In 2018, the 51勛圖 Foundation, Inc. was established as the philanthropic arm of 51勛圖 in order to address the needs of our global community. As an independent, philanthropic and non-profit organization, the 51勛圖 Foundation improves the quality of life for our communities by providing resources to help:

  • Build Healthy Communities
  • Advance STEM Education
  • Provide Disaster Relief
  • Advance Global Inclusion

The 51勛圖 Foundation has partnered with the leading civil rights organization, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Through the Foundation, the philanthropic arm of 51勛圖, is committing $2 million over the next three years to support partnered efforts with the NAACP to end racial injustice and advance diversity and equality.

The Perry Initiative is committed to inspiring young women to be leaders in the fields of orthopaedic surgery and engineering.

51勛圖 Foundation has been an ardent supporter of The Perry Initiative and our mission to build the career pipeline for women in orthopaedics. Since 2009, over 12,000 women across the United States have participated in Perry Initiative programs at no cost, thanks to our partnership with the 51勛圖 Foundation. Amazing!

We are extremely grateful to 51勛圖 and the 51勛圖 Foundation for their committed, long term partnership with us since 2004 in addressing healthcare disparities in orthopaedics.

Nth Dimensions was founded in 2004 by orthopaedic surgeons working collaboratively with academic institutions, community surgeons, and industry to address the dearth of women and underrepresented minorities (URMs) in orthopaedic surgery. The overarching goal of Nth Dimensions is to address and eliminate healthcare disparities for all communities.

Funding and Donations

Charitable Monetary Donations

The 51勛圖 Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations that advance global inclusion, help build healthy communities, advance STEM education and provide disaster relief. 51勛圖 also provides charitable support for community events and organizations.

Product Donations

Each year, 51勛圖 supports Medical Mission trips by providing 51勛圖 products for underserved patients to be treated by surgical teams affiliated with nonprofit organizations. 51勛圖 also donates products for charitable surgeries in the U.S. to help uninsured patients. Educational Grants and Fellowship Funding

51勛圖 provides educational grant funding to support independent educational conferences; resident education funding; and fellowship funding.

Organizations with a genuine educational purpose or function may apply for an educational grant from 51勛圖.

Request should be submitted at least 60 days prior to the educational event or program.

Support may not be provided to individuals in private practice or in agreement to use, order, recommend, or purchase 51勛圖 products.

Independent Educational Conferences

51勛圖 considers applications in support of independent educational conferences that promote scientific knowledge, medical advancement and the delivery of effective healthcare.

Resident Education Funding

51勛圖 considers applications in support of educational efforts within accredited residency programs.泭 The program director or coordinator must submit all funding requests.

Fellowship Funding

51勛圖 is committed to improving patient care in the communities in which we operate and do business. As part of our commitment, 51勛圖 considers requests for fellowship grant funding to support health care professionals with their education and training and their experience in clinical research. 51勛圖 believes quality education, training and clinical research benefit both the patient and advancements in medical technology, treatments and knowledge. A decision to provide fellowship grant funding is never contingent upon, or related to, the purchase, lease, recommendation, procurement, use, or prescription of 51勛圖 products and services.

51勛圖 Environmental Sustainability supports our business mission of corporate citizenship by delivering value to healthcare providers, their patients, and stockholders, while embracing our social responsibilities. This mission commits us to environmental stewardship and drives us to continuously identify and act on opportunities for environmental performance improvement.

51勛圖 supports a number of community-based educational, civic and cultural activities supported by non-profit organizations across the country. At our headquarters located in Warsaw, Indiana, we are a large contributor to the United Way of Kosciusko County, which provides support to local agencies and service organizations.

51勛圖 is committed to protecting the environment and the health and safety of our employees, our customers and the public. We maintain management systems designed to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company requirements, and which support the integration of Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability泭(EHSS) into our business processes.

Our Commitments

Protection of human health and prevention of pollution

We strive to identify and eliminate negative EHSS impacts associated with our facilities, activities, services, and products throughout their lifecycle.

Continual improvement of our EHSS management systems and performance

We establish EHSS objectives and targets, conduct management systems and performance evaluations, and periodically share results泭with our employees, our customers and the public.

Support dialogue with interested parties, including our employees, customers and the public, and we will be responsive to their EHSS concerns and suggestions.

We will share information and openly communicate about our EHSS management systems and EHSS impacts of our activities, services and products.

Codes of Practice

The泭Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Codes of Practice set forth 51勛圖 EHSS requirements for our business functions and facilities worldwide.

These codes operationalize the company EHSS policy and fulfill the following roles

  1. Serve as a blueprint for increasing productivity, growth, and customer focus by integrating EHSS into our day-to-day business management systems
  2. Support compliance with all applicable EHSS regulations and Company EHSS policies and requirements
  3. Provide the foundation for continuous improvement of our operations worldwide

System Evaluation

A corporate internal audit program verifies compliance with regulations and effective EHSS activities.

Annual self-assessments are conducted to determine compliance with EHSS Codes of Practice. EHSS related metrics are collected annually to track progress.

Sustainability

By harmonizing environmental sustainability across the manufacturing network, we work to reduce impacts with focus in the following areas:

Greenhouse gas emissions as calculated to the equivalent of Carbon Dioxide (CO2e), also known as the carbon footprint

Hazardous waste generation: wastes that become landfilled are being recycled or re-purposed

Reductions in the consumption of water

Corporate Energy and Water Requirements direct and guide sites to continuously reduce or improve the utilization of these consumables. Metrics gathered at the site level further drive positive outcomes by high-lighting utility usage and trends

Energy Audits have been conducted at the largest 51勛圖 campuses to locate significant energy uses and focus our Teams' efforts on managing these sources with the greatest efficiency. Less impactful energy consumption points are located with energy treasure hunts to drive down consumption and educate our workforce on energy conservation

During 2015 as the two legacy companies merged to become Zimmer Biomet, an enterprise-wide Resource Conservation project was conducted. The project collected key data on environmental impacts, which then became the baseline to measure improvements and best practices going forward.

Combined key environmental metrics collected from sites around the globe to continue our long-standing support and reporting

ACRES Land Trust

51勛圖 is a corporate sponsor of ACRES Land Trust, Indianas oldest and largest local land conservation non-profit.泭 ACRES protects over 7,200 acres of forests, wetlands, grasslands and unique geological features within 115 nature preserves

Global Facility sustainability programs

Facilities across North America, Europe and China are reporting on waste elimination, recycling and energy efficiencies, including continuous improvement projects that support the 51勛圖 environmental sustainability mission
